Tourism and Terrorism, the new challenges through the net and according to destination
The current international scenarios and geopolitical events show that tourists (and tourism) are a specific target of terrorism strategy; diffuse terror and destabilise political balances are its objectives.
Limiting the effects of a pervasive war, diffused, and delocalised; deal with the direct damages, costs, and expenses of tour operators and companies operating in the tourism and transport sectors; increasing and ensuring tourists safety; managing, limiting, and controlling the image of the destinations involved or at risk, are becoming the main and strategic objectives for the development of the sector.
Many of these actions are carried out through the net and other new monitoring and protection instruments as well as through new rebranding digital strategies.
The workshop proposed aims at discussing these themes offering a general overview on the criticalities and challenges of tourism against terrorism, presenting the analyses carried out by the Cattolica University through its ITSTIME– Italian Team for Security, Terroristic Issues & Managing Emergencies lab.
